history

View of the altar

The first monastery church was destroyed around 1230 when the entire monastery burned down. The successor building was rebuilt in the baroque style in 1688 . After the secularization of the monastery, the abbey church was rededicated as a parish church in 1803. Between 1864 and 1875 the church was rebuilt in the Romanesque style. After the church burned down again in 1895, it was rebuilt in the neo-baroque style according to plans by Friedrich von Thiersch from 1899 to 1903, slightly shifted to the north. The formerly free-standing north-west tower from the 13th century was integrated as the west tower.

Furnishing

The interior design and furnishings were designed by Joseph Anton Müller. In 1899 Ludwig Glötzle created two wall paintings. The ceiling painting from 1967 is by Michael P. Weingartner .
