The Catholic parish church of St. Georg is located in Mörgen , a district of Eppishausen in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . The church is a listed building .

history

The church tower , choir and probably the side walls of the nave date from around 1500 . Martin Alberthal rebuilt the church in 1627. During the next redesign around 1690/1700 the church was extended to the west.

Building description

The nave of the church consists of a nave and contains a mirrored ceiling from 1695. The slightly retracted three-sided choir adjoins the nave. There is a stab cap barrel in the choir . Remnants of Gothic circular services are still preserved in the choir to the right of the apex axis. The steeple is on the south side of the church . This is with a gable roof covered and has blind arch friezes on lily-like consoles.

Furnishing

The high altar was created by Abraham Bader in 1737/38 and is made of stucco marble. On the altar there is a group of figures of the Holy Trinity in a halo. The side passages are crowned with figures of St. Blaise and St. Leonhard . The figures are flanked by putti . The pulpit dates from 1730. Cartouches with the coats of arms of the Fugger and Oettinger are attached to the choir arch .

The stucco in the nave was installed by Johann Merck in 1695 . The stucco shows acanthus tendrils , angel heads and fruits. The other stucco work dates from the years 1725/1730 and, like the high altar, were made by Abraham Bader . The parapet of the gallery is adorned with panel paintings with decorative painting. The pictures are labeled 1704. In the lower area are scenes of the martyrdom of St. Georg , angels playing music in the upper area.
