St. Hieronymus (Wachenhofen)
The St. Hieronymus Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Wachenhofen , a district of Alesheim in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Middle Franconia . The choir tower church has what is probably a medieval church tower, the upper floor of which was built in the 18th century. The tower is crowned by a pointed helmet. The three-axis nave , structured by buttresses, is neo-Gothic and was built between 1870 and 1871 according to the plans of Wilhelm Langenfass . The churchyard wall adjacent to the south dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. The west facade was decorated with a door frame , a window with a lash closure and a rose window . The church is based on the interior design of St. Willibald's Church in Weißenburg in Bavaria . There is a late Gothic star vault above the chancel . With 88 parish members, the Wachenhofen parish is the smallest in the Gunzenhausen dean's office. The patronage of the church is the church father Sophronius Eusebius Hieronymus .
