The Church of St. Karl Borromäus is the Roman Catholic branch church in Friedrichroda , a small town in the Gotha district in Thuringia . It was on August 28, 1901 by Bishop William Schneider ordained . The parish was initially assigned to the parish of Gotha until it became independent in 1912. Since 2012, St. Karl Borromäus has been a subsidiary of the parish of St. Bonifatius , which belongs to the Meiningen dean's office in the Erfurt diocese .

The church in August-Eckard-Straße 2A was built around 1901 in a neo-Gothic style . It has a retracted choir with a three-sided ending, which has large stained glass windows . They depict the birth of Jesus , the crucifixion and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit . The church tower is built in the southwest corner. He wears a slate-covered folding roof on which a pointed helmet sits. In the middle of the choir is a late Gothic winged altar from the 14th century, which once stood in the Goslar Liebfrauenkirche . The coronation of Mary is depicted in the center of the shrine . It is flanked by Katharina , Christophorus , Bonifatius and Sebastian . Left and right on the side wings stand the 12 apostles , without Judas , but Paul . The outsides are painted.

There is also the figure of Boniface to the left of the organ gallery. In the middle of the organ gallery is the patron of the church, Karl Borromeo , and on the other side Elisabeth . The organ with 11 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1955 by Alexander Schuke . The tabernacle is located in the newly built supporting wall of the winged altar . The Eternal Light is on the right in the sanctuary. The altar was redesigned during the last renovation. Next to the altar is the ambo . To the right of the chancel is the figure of Joseph and to the left that of Mary .
