St. Kilian (Schönfeld)

The Evangelical Lutheran listed village church of St. Kilian is located in Schönfeld , a district of the city of Artern in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia . St. Kilian belongs to the parish RG Artern-Heldrungen in the parish area Artern-Heldrungen II (Artern) in the parish of Eisleben-Sömmerda the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The choir tower is of medieval origin. The nave , which is covered with a gable roof , and the slate-covered, bulbous baroque dome of the tower, on which there is an open lantern crowned by a tower ball , are from 1747/1748. The dome houses the tower clock .

The interior of the nave, covered with a wooden barrel vault , has three-sided galleries, two-story in the west . The halo with the eye of providence hovers over the pulpit altar from 1748 . The wooden baptismal font is classical . The organ is in a baroque prospect . It has 15 stops , divided into 2 manuals and a pedal , and was created in the 18th century by an unknown organ builder .
