The Juradorf Warching was always church connected with the nearby Monheim in the diocese of Eichstätt . In 1430 a benefice was built. According to a visitation report from 1480, the Benedictine nuns in Monheim took care of the pastoral care of the place, then the first chaplain of the city of Monheim.

After the Vogtei Monheim became part of the Duchy of Palatinate-Neuburg at the beginning of the 16th century , Warching accepted the Protestant faith with it from 1542 to 1616 (with interruptions). Visit files of the Neuburg Regional Church from 1575 show that Warching was being cared for by Wittesheim , Itzing and Rögling at that time , but did not yet have a school. After the reconversion of the sovereign in 1617 to Catholicism Witte Heimer pastor for pastoral care was responsible. The Jesuits , who erected a new altar, also worked against the Reformation here . For 1683 and the following time it is recorded that the pastoral care took place again from Monheim.

Johann Baptist Herb , born on January 31, 1806, was baptized in the church. He was ordained a priest in Eichstätt in 1832 and worked as a dogmatics professor at the University of Munich , where he had also studied, and from 1844 was senior church and school councilor in the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior († June 28, 1890).

Church building

The previous Gothic building , whose church tower from the 15th century has been preserved, showed structural damage around 1600 and was renewed in 1675. In 1753 a new building was made from quarry stone, including the tower.

The rectangular nave with three window axes with flat ceilings over throats is in front of the drawn-in rectangular choir with a round arched choir arch . The building is accessible through a segmental arched portal on the south and north side of the nave. The organ is on the west gallery . The square, three-storey tower with coupled acoustic openings in the third floor is by a gabled roof completed.

A comprehensive renovation took place in 2000 and 2001.

Furnishing

The baroque high altar with the altar sheet of the church patron is flanked by statues of St. Willibald and St. Walburga , in the excerpt a group of carvings represents the coronation of Mary. Above the side passages there is a statue of St. John the Baptist and on the right that of St. Margareta von Antiochia , early works by Philipp Jakob Rämpl (* 1728; † 1809) from Wolfratshausen , carved in 1761.

The original side altars, made for Leibstadt by Ignaz Graf from Hilpoltstein as early as 1708 , were installed in 1766, but replaced by today's ones in 1862. The altar paintings by the Munich history painter Anton Bauer depict Mary on the left altar and St. Wendelin . On the cafeteria of the left side altar, a seated Madonna, around 1430, is depicted, on that of the right side altar a Pietà , around 1750. In the excerpt from the left side altar there is a painting of St. Margaret, in which the right side altar has a painting of St. Aloisius Gonzaga .

The pulpit from the time it was built is equipped with pictures of the four evangelists and a trumpet angel on the sound cover.

14 ceiling frescos by Vitus Greitman (also: Greittmann / Greithmann) depict scenes from the life of the church patron, the main fresco in the nave, signed and dated on the step, 1753. Stuccoing in the painting is simulated. Carved chair cheeks from the early Rococo (around 1740).
