St. Paulus (Lich)
St. Paulus is a Roman Catholic church in Lich in the district of Gießen ( Hesse ).
history
From 1913 to 1956 there was a Catholic church in Lich in a mission house on Heinrich-Neeb-Straße. The new building is a result of developments after the Second World War : the influx from Silesia and the Sudetenland increased the number of Catholics, so that the previous building was no longer sufficient.
The current church was built in 1955 and 1956 under Dean Georg Grönlein on the Ringstrasse. It was consecrated on November 18, 1956 by the Mainz Bishop Albert Stohr . The church patron is the apostle Paul . The community center is located between the church and the steeple .
The Way of the Cross in the church was established in 1962.
organ
Since 1988 the church has had an organ from the Tzschöckel company from Fautspach-Althütte.
Parish
In 2014, the two parishes of St. Paulus in Lich and St. Andreas in Hungen became the Catholic parish of St. Paulus and St. Andreas. The area of the new parish extends over 22 localities and comprised around 5000 Catholic believers at the time of its foundation.
