History and description

The parish Lastrup was probably made by Abpfarrung of Löningen ( St. Vitus ). The first church was probably built around 1200. It was rebuilt several times, a preserved door arch, according to its inscription, dates from 1505. In 1858 part of the vault collapsed , after which it was decided to build a new church.

The current church was built from 1859 to 1863 as a neo-Gothic hall church made of red brick according to plans by the architect Emil von Manger . From 1969 to 1971 the choir was torn down and replaced by an extension by Alfons Boklage .

Furnishing

The oldest piece is the Romanesque font made of Bentheim sandstone ( Bentheim type ) from around 1200. The Pietà dates from the beginning of the 15th century. The high altar and pulpit were created for the new church in 1862 and 1864. Several works by Joseph Krautwald belong to the equipment of the extension building .
