The Catholic branch church St. Simon and Juda in Herschbroich , a local parish in the Ahrweiler district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built in the 17th century. The church is a protected cultural monument .

history

The Saints Simon and Jude consecrated church was built in 1666 and was under the Johanniter - Commandery in Adenau . 1754 the building was renovated and 1923/25 increased by the ship to the East in order transept and choir was expanded.

architecture

The old part of the church made of plastered quarry stone is 9 m long and 5.60 m wide. This hall building has a round arched portal in the west and two round arched windows on each side of the eaves .

In front of the choir sits a square roof turret with an eight-sided helmet on the gable roof covered with slate . The last renovation took place in 2000.

altar

The baroque altar in the new choir with a two-part structure is from the middle of the 17th century. Above the tabernacle there is a statue of Our Lady and on the sides, between the undulating pairs of columns, Saints Simon and Judah. On the right and left outside there are ear cheeks with cartilage. The top relief shows God the Father, above is St. Maternus with a church model.
