St. Urban in Doeckingen

The St. Urbanus Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Döckingen , a district of Polsingen in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . It is the parish church of the Döckingen parish in the Evangelical Lutheran Dean's Office in Heidenheim . The postal address is Hauptstrasse 28. The building is registered under monument number D-5-77-162-18 as a monument in the Bavarian monument list. The medieval predecessor buildings are also registered as a ground monument (number: D-5-7030-0158).

Today's hall church was built in the neo-Gothic style from 1873 to 1874 instead of a previous building that had been dismantled . A church in Gunzenhausen, which was demolished in 1960, served as a model . The three-storey church tower on the west side is crowned by a pointed helmet . The nave is five-axis and is divided by buttresses between the windows. Inside the church are the baptismal font and the crucifix , probably a work by Giuseppe Volpini , each of which was created around 1720. The churchyard wall dates from the 19th century.

Gustav Baist, known as a social reformer, was pastor of the church from 1877 to 1883 .
