In his North Frisian Chronicle of 1666, Anton Heimreich writes : Odenbüll, so called, [...] from Otilia a woman who is said to have worshiped her country as a church, which church is built in honor of S. Vincentii, and like Mr. Johannes Petreus , who is here from A. 1565–1605 pastor, reports, has stood for over 450 years . According to this information, the parish celebrated its 900th birthday in 2015. The oldest parts of the current building, the inner walls of the central nave , date from the 13th century.

After the Burchardi flood in 1634, only three of the former 22 churches on Alt-Nordstrand were preserved, the two Pellworm churches and the Odenbüller, which is the oldest building in Nordstrand.

In 1715 the north and west gallery were drawn into the nave with a flat wooden beam ceiling . Some of the cheeks of the chairs are fitted with wrought iron hat holders from the 17th and 18th centuries. During a renovation from 1886 to 1889, the facing masonry was completely renewed and the church received its neo-Gothic appearance. In the same year an octagonal ridge turret was added and the building was extended to the west. The bell tower formerly to the east of the church was demolished.

From 1965 to 1966 the late Gothic chancel had to be demolished and replaced by a new building with a flat roof. In order to secure the clay and peat layers that were not very stable in the terp, foundation piles had to be driven to a depth of around twenty meters. The choir arch was also rebuilt. The west facade was clad in wood in 2001.

Furnishing

Most of the Gothic and Baroque furnishings were acquired in the 18th century.

  • The most important piece of equipment is the three-wing carved altar from around 1480 in the late Gothic style. The original medieval version has been lost over time. The crucifixion scene is carried out in a realistic manner. The crucifixion and the dispute over the skirt of Christ are depicted with many figures and clearly. The two side wings show bishops , saints and apostles. In the predella there is a depiction of Anna herself , the third . There are Mary and her son Jesus , and the grandparents Anna and Joachim shown. To the right and left of it are the words of institution as they are spoken at the Lord's Supper.
  • Baptism was imported from Namur in the 15th century . It is made of blue stone and has the shape of an octagonal cup.
  • Opposite the gallery hangs a late Gothic crucifix , it was carved around 1400. The corner fields with the representations of the evangelist symbols were added in the baroque period.
  • The pulpit dates from 1605; it is lavishly decorated with ornaments and adorned with biblical scenes. It corresponds to the so-called Eiderstedter type.
  • Gravestones from the 17th century are shown on the outer wall in the south and in the chancel.
