The Roman Catholic Kuratiekirche St. Vitus is the village church of Kaisten , a district of Wasserlosen in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . It belongs to the architectural monuments of Wasserlosen and is registered together with the tabernacle wayside shrine in front of the church under the number D-6-78-192-45 in the Bavarian list of monuments . Kaisten is part of the parish community Maria Hilf Wasserlosen.

history

A church already existed in Kaisten in 1350. The basement of the steeple was built in the 15th century. In 1600 the steeple was raised. The choir and nave were built in 1770. The sacristy was added in 1938.

description

The choir is in the north. The church tower, a Julius Echter tower , is on the east side, the sacristy on the west side. The high altar from around 1750 has figures of Saint Mark and Nicholas at the same time as well as figures of the Holy Family and Our Lady . The 8-register mechanical organ was installed in 1892. In 1964 the peal was supplemented by the consecration of two new bells on three bells.

Remarks

  1. These are the dates of Georg Dehio . On the other hand, the parish community's website states that the Würzburg prince-bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn had the entire church tower built around 1616.
