The Catholic branch church St. Wendelin in Koisdorf , a district of the town of Sinzig in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built in the Middle Ages . It is a protected cultural monument .

history

While the church was probably restored in 1630, we do not know when the oldest parts, the choir and the eastern nave parts , were built. It is a late Romanesque building.

From 1959 to 1969 the ship was extended by approx. 6 meters to the west and a gallery was built. A sacristy was added to the north wall .

architecture

The single-nave quarry stone building with drawn-in end of the choir and rectangular nave has a base masonry about one meter high. The polygonal corners of the choir have corner pilaster strips. The south side of the nave has two arched window openings and the choir has three arched windows. The north side has no windows. The church is a ge wrong Erten gable roof covered and to the east sits on the nave, a square ridge turret with octagonal top.

The nave with a flat ceiling is opened to the choir by a 1.53 m deep triumphal arch . This has a seven-part ribbed vault on low corner consoles .

Specialty

In the middle window opening of the choir, the church has a leaded glass window from the late 13th century depicting a crucifixion group .
