Bahia State Championship (women's football)
The Bahia state championship for women's football ( Portuguese Campeonato Baiano de Futebol Feminino ) is the women's football club championship of the state of Bahia in Brazil , which has been held with a few interruptions since 1984 by the Federação Bahiana de Futebol (FBF) .
history
Bahia was the third state to establish a football championship for women after Rio de Janeiro and Pará and can now boast the most consistent of all state championships in this sport. Some of Brazil's first national players emerged from their early years, including the playmaker of the 1990s Sisleide “Sissi” do Amor Lima , who first worked for Flamengo de Feira FC and then for EC Bahia . The record national player Formiga , also from Bahia, began her career at Euroexport in Salvador . With the serial champions of the 21st century São Francisco EC , a Brazilian first division team is currently represented in the national championship.
The national championship determines qualification for the Copa do Brasil Feminino and, since 2017, qualification for the second division (Série A2) of the Brazilian championship .
