The Stade Armandie is a Rugby - Stadium in the French town of Agen , the department of Lot-et-Garonne , in the southwest of the country. Since opening, it has been the home ground of the SU Agen rugby union club , which is represented in the top league, the Top 14 . The facility south of the city center can accommodate 12,002 spectators. It is named after Alfred Armandie, the founder of the association.

history

In 1921 the Stade Armandie was completed. In 1965, 1972, 1991 and 2007 it was expanded. A renovation followed from 2008 to 2010. During the Rugby Union World Cup in 1991 , it hosted the preliminary round match between France and Canada on October 13 (19:13).

On March 13, 2019, Mayor Jean Dionis du Séjour presented plans for the renovation of the almost 100-year-old Stade Armandie. The costs are estimated to be around EUR 26.4 million. 15.4 million will come from public funds. The SU Agen and a pool of investors are to raise the further eleven million euros . In the stadium u. a. a hotel will be built. The investors are to finance this with seven million. In addition, restaurants, shops and other fitness services are planned. With the renovation, SU Agen hopes to generate additional income of two to 2.5 million euros annually. The renovation should be completed by the 2022/23 season.
