The Stade Jean-Bouin is a rugby and football stadium in the 16th arrondissement of the French capital Paris , which is located in the immediate north of the Parc des Princes . Located between Avenue du Général Sarrail , Rue Claude Farrère and Rue Nungesser et Coli , the stadium had a capacity of 12,000 when it opened and can be reached by Paris Metro from Porte de Saint-Cloud ( Line 9 ) and Porte d 'Auteuil ( line 10 ).

history

The sports facility was built in 1925 and initially served only CASG Paris as the home ground. Although this association, which since 2002 under the name Paris Jean Bouin trades, the stadium still uses for some sporting events - primarily for American football - it is now used primarily for rugby team of indigenous to the other side of the Parc des Princes stadium club Stade Français as Home ground. On July 13, 1985, pole vaulter Serhij Bubka was the first to cross the 6-meter mark in the Stade Jean-Bouin.

The stadium was named after the outstanding French athlete Jean Bouin (1888-1914), who set several national and international records before he died in World War I at the age of just 25 . Born in Marseille , Bouin had belonged to the former stadium owner CASG Paris, who incidentally had close ties with Société Générale at the beginning , since 1910.

As part of Paris's application for the 2012 Summer Olympics , the sports facility was completely renovated according to a design by Rudy Ricciotti . The facility reopened in 2013 and now offers space for 20,000 spectators with 51 boxes and 1,300 business seats. With the renovation, the athletics facility was removed from the stadium and the spectator stands roofed over.

In 2014, the stadium next to the Center national du rugby in Marcoussis hosted the Women's Rugby Union World Cup . In addition to the final, the semi-finals and the third place match, further placement games took place. At the end of October 2015, the French women's national football team welcomed the Dutch women's team .

In the 2016/17 season, the Red Star Paris football club played its home games at the Stade Jean-Bouin, as the Stade de Paris from 1909 was in need of renovation and did not meet the requirements of Ligue 2 .

At the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, the games in rugby 7 will be played in the Stade Jean-Bouin .
