The Stadion Miejski ( German  Municipal Stadium , full name: Stadion Miejski w Białymstoku ) is a rugby and football stadium in the Polish city of Białystok , capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship , in the north-east of the country. It currently offers 22,386 spectator seats and is the venue of Jagiellonia Białystok . The stadium is owned by the city of Białystok.

history

The old stadium was built in 1971, had 6,000 seats and was used until 2010.

From 2010 to 2014 the old stadium was completely rebuilt. The stadium design was made in 2007 by APA Kuryłowicz & Associoates. The French-Polish company Eiffage Polska Budownictwo SA was selected as the general contractor . The offer was 156 million złoty (around 37 million euros ). In between there were delays in construction. In 2011, the city and Eiffage canceled the building contracts. Both parties in the dispute went to court. The following year, a consortium of Hydrobudowa Poland SA and the Spanish company Obrascón Huarte Lain (OHL) was selected for further construction. The new tender increased the construction costs to 254 million złoty (around 66 million euros). After Hydrobudowa Poland went bankrupt , OHL took over the construction of the stadium until completion.

The reopening took place on October 18, 2014. With the inauguration, the soccer game Jagiellonia Białystok against Pogoń Stettin (5-0) took place. 21,196 visitors came to the game, which is a record attendance to this day. The venue holds 22,386 spectators in its completely covered auditorium.
