The stadium Miejski ( German  Städtisches Stadion , also Stadion Śląska Wrocław ) is a football stadium in the Polish city ​​of Wroclaw . It is a UEFA category 4 stadium , the highest classification of the football association.

history

Construction work began in November 2008 and completion was scheduled for June 2011; however, after delays, it was not opened until September 2011. The stadium , which costs 857 million PLN (around 200 million euros ), is mainly used by the Śląsk Wrocław football club and offers 45,105 seats, including 2,130 VIP and business seats, 102 handicapped-accessible seats and 102 seats for attendants. The building is equipped with a membrane made of fiberglass , the largest of its kind, covered. It can be illuminated in different colors and lets enough daylight through for the four office buildings in the stadium. The two video display boards under the roof each have an area of ​​around 90 . On December 30, 2009, the contract with the Polish general contractor Mostostal Warszawa SA was terminated due to construction delay. The new general contractor was the German company Max Bögl .

On September 10, 2011, at the opening of the stadium, the WBC World Championship heavyweight boxing match between the Ukrainian world champion Vitali Klitschko and the Polish challenger Tomasz Adamek took place.

The Festival of Good Beer has been taking place on the Esplanade on the second weekend in May since 2014 .
