The Stadion v Jiráskově ulici ( German  Stadium in Jirásek Street ) is a football stadium in the former mining town of Jihlava , Czech Republic . It is the venue of the local football club FC Vysočina Jihlava , which is currently based in the first-class Synot League . The sports facility was originally built with an athletics facility.

history

The stadium began in the 1950s. The then club ZSJ Jihlava acquired a site on which the stadium was to be built. Work on the site began on September 10, 1951. In the course of the earthworks, a short time later on November 28th, a pipeline was encountered , which brought the construction project to a standstill. After a building ban, the association had to look for a new location. Construction could start on a newly acquired site closer to the city center. The stadium was supposed to be completed in 1953, but this was delayed until the end of 1955. In the summer of that year, a Spartakiade with 10,000 gymnasts in front of 15,000 spectators took place in the new building.

Several construction and renovation works were carried out in the first half of the 1970s. A training field was built behind the north curve between 1970 and 1972. From 1971 to 1974 the stadium on Jiráskově ulici was modernized. The inauguration and the first game took place on August 11, 1974 against FC Bohemians Prague . In the summer of 1974, construction work began on the longitudinal stand in the southwest. After construction progressed quickly, the rank was inaugurated on June 7, 1975. The 80 meter long grandstand had 640 seats and 2000 standing places. Further improvements, such as a new athletics facility in 1986/87, were made in the 1980s. In 2002 the administration building and the changing rooms were renovated.

In 2005, FC Vysočina Jihlava made it to the top Czech football class, the former Gambrinus League, for the first time . The old stadium on Jiráskově ulici had to be rebuilt to meet the requirements of the league, including floodlights and at least 4,000 seats . The club received special permission for the 2005/06 season . In the meantime, the club had time to adapt the stadium to league regulations. If the club had let the deadline pass, the league games would have had to be played in a different stadium.

In the north of the stadium, in the curve directly behind the goal, a roofed spectator area with seats and 130 parking spaces at the rear was created. For the inauguration of the new building against FC Zenit Čáslav (2-0) on October 13, 2006, the second-rate Druhá fotbalová liga played 3,100 spectators. The installed floodlights have an illuminance of 1,200 lux . In 2012 the playing field was equipped with turf heating .

The stadium currently holds 4,155 spectators. There are spaces for wheelchair users in areas A4 and A5. The small VIP grandstand sits enthroned on the stadium's administration building in the east.
