The Stadtarchiv Celle is the municipal archive of the city of Celle with documents from and on the history of the former residence and today's district town. In the former town hall of the now incorporated town of Westercelle at the address Westerceller Straße 4, there is a reading room with several workstations and, for example, various library collections.

The Celle city archive holds around 2000 meters of archival material from the city's history from the 13th century to the present; underneath
- the document for the foundation of the city from the year 1292;
- around 200 historical maps and plans,
- For example, bequests from the Trüller-Werke , the Neustädter Schule or Clemens Cassel ;
- Permanent loans such as from the orphanage in Celle , the estate of Hanna Fueß , the archive of the Celle volunteer fire brigade , a Hermann Löns collection and the estate of Carla Meyer-Rasch ;
- Judaica ;
- Address books , seals , photographs , films and, for example, the issues of the Cellesche Zeitung since 1870;

Libraries
- The reference library comprises around 22,000 volumes.
- A separate department is the library named after Albrecht Thaer , which contains works of agricultural literature from around 1750 to 1860.
- In addition, the city archive of Celle holds the issues of around 50 current magazines from.
- Together with the Bomann Museum , the institution has been the publisher of the series of publications of the Bomann Museum and the Celle City Archives since 1954 .
