Projects

With a view to the 25 percent share of Spandau residents with a migration background, the Spandau City Library carried out the IBIZA project - intercultural library work in the Spandau Central Library from 2011–2013. The project was financed from the BIST - Libraries in the Berlin district of Berlin with funds from the ERDF (European Regional Fund).

As part of the FABELHAFT project, the Spandau City Library has been trying since 2012 to make its libraries more attractive, especially for families. This project is also co-financed by the BIST program - Libraries in the District. Some branches of the “Bzb” draw their services and funding from the so-called neighborhood management; "QM" for short, for example the Falkenhagener Feld district library.

With the participation in the project TENIVER - Technological innovation in the information supply, also from funds of the EFRE, Spandau has introduced the self-booking of media with the help of the RFID technology since 2009 .

As part of the urban development program Stadtumbau West , a former supermarket was converted into the Falkenhagener Feld district library in Westerwaldstraße in 2012.
