The church tower was built in the 12th century and is one of the oldest parts of the church. Its roof only took on its present shape after 1744 as part of a renovation. The hall church type has a vault of pointed arches and three naves . The individual ships are separated by pillars. The nave consists of two vaults and the adjoining choir consists of two bays . In the 18th century the church had about 500 people.

Until around 1613, the clergy of the town church officiated in the rectory opposite, which probably burned down that year. Before the Reformation , the church was run by a chaplain . In 1544, Henricus Stouener was the first pastor to come to the town church during the Reformation. He lived on the pen .

organ

The organ of the town church was built by Friedrich Weißenborn . The instrument has 24 registers on two manuals and a pedal. The playing and stop actions are mechanical. In 2001 the organ was re-voiced by the organ builder Jörg Bente (Suthfeld-Helsinghausen).
