four-legged fireborn

In a document dated September 14, 1173, a "Richardus de Buches" is named as a witness in a legal act. This Richard von Buches was part of the team at Gelnhausen Castle and was therefore in the service of the Hohenstaufen emperors.

In the Middle Ages, the Knights of Buches belonged to the most extensive aristocratic families of the Wetterau. As early as the 13th century, the von Buches family split into the lines to Berstadt and Höchst, from which the lines to Lindheim, Staden and Wasserlos branched off. All lines in the coat of arms lead the so-called four-legged fireborn.

In May 1268, the Knights von Buches and Karben founded the Cistercian convent of St. Mary in the Valley of Angels on their property on the Nidder.

In 1280 Rupert von Buches had a chapel built in Lindheim .

In 1301 Agnes von Buches bequeathed goods in Büches and Düdelsheim to Engelthal Monastery .

Johannes von Buches died around 1318 in Engelthal Monastery.

Before 1346 Herdan married von Buches zu Berstadt the daughter of Richwin Schelris von Wasserlos . The two establish a line that is called the Book of Waterless and which lasted until the middle of the 16th century. The Hanau bailiff in Babenhausen Richwin II. Schelris von Wasserlos is married in 1360 to the daughter of a Herdan book from Berstadt.

In a document from 1375 Rychwin and Hermann Schelris are named as vassals, the latter died without a male heir. The fiefs that became apertures are the ones that Hanns von Buches received for new man fiefs.

The von Bicken , von Buches , von Schwalbach , kitchen master, von Schleifras families founded and concentrated the two aristocratic farms in Wasserlos, partly from the possessions of the former Schelrisse von Wasserlos, partly from new acquisitions.

Lutherus von Buches (also Büches) was canon in the cathedral of Mainz and from 1354 to 1359 provost at the monastery of St. Peter and Alexander in Aschaffenburg , he died on October 20, 1359.

In the course of the 16th century the family of the Ritter von Buches became extinct.

According to Biedermann, she was one of Buches zu Seligenstadt. But this line is nowhere else passed down. It is not known which of the four book lines (Berstadt, Höchst, Lindheim or Staden) it actually comes from. The "von Buches" were knights and originally come from today's village of Büches in the Wetterau. Presumably she was a granddaughter of Hartmann v. Buches and Agnes Groschlag von Dieburg.
