Stanislaus Joseph Brzana

Stanislaus Joseph Brzana (born July 7, 1917 in Buffalo , New York , USA ; † March 1, 1997 in Cheektowaga ) was Bishop of Ogdensburg .

Life

Stanislaus Joseph Brzana studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at Christ the King Seminary and at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany . He received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Buffalo on June 7, 1941 .

During the Second World War Brzana was a military chaplain . In 1953 he was at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome for a doctor of theology doctorate .

On May 24, 1964, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Cufruta and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Buffalo. The Bishop of Buffalo, James Aloysius McNulty , ordained him episcopally on June 29 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Camden , Celestine Joseph Damiano , and the Bishop of Paterson , James Johnston Navagh .

On October 22, 1968 Paul VI appointed him. to the bishop of Ogdensburg. On November 11, 1993, Pope John Paul II accepted Stanislaus Joseph Brzana’s resignation for reasons of age.

Stanislaus Joseph Brzana attended the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
