The airline was founded in 1998 by Valentin Kasyanov as Servicio de Transporte Aéreo Regional (trade name: Star Up ) and took up flight operations with an Antonov An-32 .
A new era began for Star Perú in October 2018 when the first of three Boeing 737s was taken over. In May 2019, Star Perú ended the operation of its BAe 146 fleet, of which 11 individual aircraft had been operated as of 2008. For the destinations on which the Boeing 737 cannot land, Q400s from LC Perú are used. These were taken over by the Peruvian Group and transferred to StarPerú. StarPerú worked more and more closely with Peruvian Airlines. In the end it belonged to the "Peruvian Group", a merger was on the agenda even after the operations of the parent company Peruvian Airlines were discontinued.
Destinations
From the Peruvian capital Lima , Star Peru serves the Peruvian destinations Ayacucho, Andahuaylas, Cajamarca , Chiclayo , Huánuco, Iquitos , Pucallpa and Tarapoto . Due to the cooperation with Peruvian Airlines and the associated restructuring, some routes were only served by Peruvian (including Arequipa, Cuzco and Ilo), other destinations were discontinued for the time being (e.g. Puerto Maldonado and Trujillo ). Peruvian Airlines concentrated on high-traffic main routes, while StarPerú should focus on regional and branch routes.
StarPerú manages parts of the Sunrise Airways fleet and thus flies to destinations in their network. The cooperation previously existed with Peruvian Airlines .
