Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning is a Finnish feature film from 2005. It is the seventh installment in the Star Wreck series.

content

Pirk, Dwarf, and Info have been stranded in the past (how this came about is told in Star Wreck V). They are not supposed to interfere in the timeline, but do it anyway when, with the help of Russia, they build the spaceship "CPP Potkustart" (CPP Kickstart = NCC 1701-E), found the P-Fleet (Starfleet) and conquer the world. To counter the problem of overpopulation, Pirk tries to colonize other planets, but fails: The spaceships built with Russian technology only reach Twist 2 (corresponding to Warp 2) and all planets that can be reached are uninhabitable.

When they find a “maggot hole”, they get into another dimension and hit the space station Babel 13 (cf. Babylon 5 ). After realizing that they are in a parallel universe, Pirk decides to conquer the parallel world earth and so face the problem of overpopulation. The Babel 13 crew learns of this plan and tries to stop Pirk, which ends in a wild shootout. When it becomes clear that Babel 13 will lose this fight, Sherrypie (Sheridan) offers to surrender and check the virginity of Ivanowitsa (Ivanova) to buy time. Pirk agrees and goes, and with him half the crew of his entire fleet, on Babel 13, even if Dwarf warns of this obvious trap.

It happens as it has to: the reinforcements called by Sherrypie appear, which leads to further orgies of destruction. Pirk manages to escape from Babel 13. During the fight, Pirk loses the majority of his fleet and also the "CPP Potkustart" to his opponents, which, however, were completely wiped out by the fight. As the renewed defeat looms, the security chief of Babel 13, Garybrandy (Garibaldi), deactivates the cooling systems of the station in order to destroy Pirk's remaining fleet. Sherrypie lures Pirk closer to Babel 13, but this time he recognizes the trap and tries to escape on the damaged "Kalinka" (NCC-1701-A). Now that there is no longer any need to blow up Babel 13, Garybrandy tries to switch the cooling system back on - and fails: Babel 13 is destroyed in a huge explosion and takes all Pirk's remaining ships with it. All except the "Kalinka", who can escape through the "maggot hole".

When they have returned to their dimension, they are immediately threatened with new hardship, as the "Kalinka" crashes to earth. Info notes that the "maggot hole" moved in space and time and reached the earth in the process. Pirk manages to beam Dwarf and Info onto the surface, the rest of the crew hits hard with the "Kalinka". Pirk, Dwarf and Info are then stuck in an ice desert, which Info claims is Hawaii, 11,000 years before they started from Earth.

The film ends with Info considering the possibility that he could enter the 21st century in a sleep mode and try to prevent the P-Fleet from invading the Mirror Universe and thus save them all. However, when you zoom out into space you can see that the information is wrong with regard to time and place: You are in Canada (recognizable by the great lakes) and after the invasion attempt, as you can see the space dock from which the fleet started - however it is destroyed.

background

"Star Wreck - In the Pirkinning" was produced as the first part of the Star Wreck series, which has been released since 1992, in full feature length. All six previous works were short films. For several years the production team has been working on two sequels, the short film Star Wreck: Timecrash , which is due to be released in 2018, and another feature- length film called Star Wreck - The Motion Picture . In terms of content, this is a parody of the SF series Starship Enterprise - The Next Century and Babylon 5 .

Its production, which was only possible thanks to donations and numerous voluntary work, lasted over 7 years and took place for the most part in a self-furnished blue box studio in the producer's apartment. Despite the limited budget, the quality of the film is amazing. Above all, the completely self-produced special and CGI effects and the film music come close to professional standards.

The most important roles in the film are cast by amateur actors who either come from the producers' immediate circle of acquaintances or who were selected and approached on the street. In addition, some prominent Finnish actors (for example Kari Väänänen and Karoliina Blackburn ) could be won over for guest appearances.

The 103-minute long film is under the Creative Commons (by-nd-nc) license and, like all six predecessors, could be downloaded from the official website free of charge. The film was initially made available for download in AVI format . An early DVD version was distributed in Russia and Finland. After a DVD distributor for the film was found in the US and UK, the download link was removed from the website. Archive.org keeps a version in various formats in stock. In addition, there has been a stream on the official website for some time.
