Stardew Valley

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stardew Valley (literally translated as "Sterntautal" or "Sternentautal") is a computer game that combines the genres of simulation and role-playing . It was developed by an individual (Eric Barone) and published in 2016 by British publisher Chucklefish .

action

The story of Stardew Valley begins with the player standing by his dying grandfather's bed. He hands the player a letter, which remains unread. Several years pass in the game and the protagonist works in an office for the Joja company. Eventually he decides to open the letter and learns that his grandfather has bequeathed him a farm near Pelican Town . The protagonist decides to quit and rebuild the run-down farm.

Gameplay

The gameplay is similar to the Harvest Moon series . The player has a run-down farm renovate and manage . Friendships that can be made with residents play an important role. Mini- games such as fishing or coin-operated games appear repeatedly in the game . Furthermore, unlocking a community center brings another task for the player: He is supposed to collect various items to complete bundles, which unlocks previously locked parts of the map and rewards the player with items. In contrast to Harvest Moon , Stardew Valley also has a combative part. In a mine with dozens of levels, the player can prove himself against monsters and collect valuable minerals. You can't die, but you can pass out and lose money and valuable items.

development

Eric Barone programmed the game in C # within the development environment of Microsoft's XNA Framework . The graphics were drawn with Paint.NET , and Reason was used to compose the game music and the sound effects . It took him about four years to develop the game. It was then published by the London game studio Chucklefish , which among other things had developed the well-known game Starbound .

Stardew Valley received mostly positive reviews. The Metacritic review database aggregates 30 reviews to a mean of 89.

“The game, which has been programmed by a single developer over many years, is more than the sum of its admittedly not particularly innovative parts. The sheer attention to detail with which the valley of the star dew was implemented alone makes one all too happy and quick to forget the time. "
