Stars is the fourth studio album by the British pop band Simply Red . It was released on September 30, 1991 on the East West Records label.

Production and guest posts

Stewart Levine was the only producer to appear on Stars, Mick Hucknall only worked as a producer on the titles Something Got Me Started , Thrill Me and Your Mirror . With the exception of Something Got Me Started and Thrill Me , which were written by Mick Hucknall and Fritz McIntyre, the rest of the songs on the recording were written exclusively by Mick Hucknall.

There are no guest contributions from other musicians on the album.

Stars debuted on the Billboard 200 on October 19, 1991 at number 108. In the week ending April 11, 1992, the record reached number 76 on the American album charts. In the German album charts, Stars rose to number 8 on October 14, 1991 and reached its highest position of number 2 on November 30, 1991. Stars also reached the top of the British charts, where it was able to hold, with interruptions, for twelve weeks.

Sales figures and awards

Stars was awarded five times gold in 1996 in Germany for more than 1.25 million units sold , making the album one of the best-selling music albums in Germany . In the United States, Stars was awarded a gold record in 1992 for over 500,000 sales. The record received the highest award in the United Kingdom, where it was awarded 12 times platinum.
