Stefan Nijland (born August 10, 1988 in Hoogezand-Sappemeer , also Stef Nijland ) is a Dutch football player . The striker has been under contract with the Dutch first division club BV De Graafschap since summer 2018 .

Career

Nijland went through the youth department of FC Groningen before he was accepted into the club's professional squad for the 2007/08 season. On August 18, 2007, shortly after his 19th birthday, the offensive player made his debut in the Eredivisie . In the game against NAC Breda , he came on in the 80th minute for Marcus Berg . After only one season in Groningen, PSV Eindhoven lured him to the Philips Stadium . In the Red-Whites, however, Nijland was only used irregularly and was only a supplementary player behind strikers like Danko Lazović , Danny Koevermans and Ola Toivonen . In the 2009/10 season he was therefore loaned to the league competitor Willem II from Tilburg . In the 2010/11 season he came again to only four short appearances in the second half of the season at PSV. For the 2011/12 season, PSV and Nijland therefore decided to loan him to league rivals NEC from Nijmegen so that he could develop further. At NEC, Nijland should primarily play on the left wing position, on which midfielder John Goossens was most recently used in the 2010/11 season . However, he only came to 14 missions in the honor division and returned to Eindhoven after his loan contract expired.

After he had remained in the first half of the 2012/13 season without a competitive game for Eindhoven, he was awarded for the second half of the Australian first division club Brisbane Roar . In summer 2013 PEC Zwolle signed him.
