Stefan Brodbeck
Stefan Brodbeck (* 1962 in Munich ) is a German designer .
Life
After studying product design and architecture in Kassel , Stefan Brodbeck started at the Viennese architecture office Eichinger or Knechtl , where he worked on projects such as the development of lights and furniture for the Federal Chancellery in Vienna or the design of the festival rooms for the Ars Electronica 1991 as well as the associated computer-aided exhibition “ Pioneers of Electronic Art ”. This was followed by project work for the design office frogdesign in Germany, later also in Palo Alto , USA.
In 1994 Stefan Brodbeck founded his own design office in Munich, brodbeck design - design based on people , which today employs ten people. The focus of his work is industrial design , furniture design and exhibition design.
At the end of the 1990s, Brodbeck began long-term collaboration with the world market leader for office furniture, Steelcase . The first product became known under the name “Revolution at Work”: a system of furniture consisting of a table and wall modules that can be flexibly adapted to the needs of the user. The “Frisco” desk system was an innovation at that time and was therefore exhibited in New York in 2001 in the “Worksphere” exhibition for future working environments at MOMA in New York.
One specialization of the design office is "Universal Design". Together with experts from science and marketing, brodbeck design developed a new product category, the trans-generational products: products that are suitable for several generations. For this purpose, a scientific cooperation with the “Generation Research Program” (GRP) of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich was established. Under the name "design & usability", products are tested for their usability and acceptance, in particular to meet the requirements of older people. The combination of science and design is unique in the product design sector.
