Steelcase is a multinational manufacturer of office furniture and space solutions. The company was founded in Grand Rapids Michigan , USA, in 1912 . Steelcase has approximately 11,700 employees and over 800 resellers worldwide. In 1980, Pohlschröder was bought 50% each by the US company Steelcase Inc. from Grand Rapids and the French company Strafor from Strasburg. In the 2017 financial year, the office furniture manufacturer, which has been traded on the New York Stock Exchange since 1998, generated sales of US $ 3 billion. IDEO , a global design studio, is a subsidiary of Steelcase.

Steelcase AG

Steelcase AG is responsible for Germany, Austria and Switzerland and was created in 1998 from the takeover of Werndl Büromöbel AG, founded in Rosenheim in 1895. The administration has been located in Munich (Bavaria), a production facility in Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria , since August 2017 . The German subsidiary generated sales of EUR 244 million in the 2016 financial year (March 1, 2015 - February 29, 2016). Until 2015 there was a second production site in Durlangen (Baden-Württemberg). From there, production was relocated to Stříbro , Czech Republic.
