Stefan Grabiński

Stefan Grabiński (born February 26, 1887 in Kamionka Strumiłowa , today Ukraine , † November 12, 1936 in Lwów ) was a Polish writer and author of horror literature , who was sometimes referred to as "the Polish Poe ".

Grabiński worked as a teacher in Lemberg (Lviv) and Przemyśl and was known for his railway stories collected in Demon ruchu . A number of his works have been translated into English by Miroslaw Lipinski and published as The Dark Domain . Other works, such as Szamota's Mistress , were made into films.

Grabiński died of tuberculosis in 1936 and was buried in the Janivskyj Cemetery in Lviv.
