Stefanie Gebauer (born Stefanie Wallborn in Staaken , 1980 ) is a German politician ( Free Voters , formerly CDU ). In the election of the Federal President on February 13, 2022 , she is the candidate of the Free Voters.

Life

education, job and family

Stefanie Gebauer was born Stefanie Wallborn in Staaken in 1980. Her mother had come to Germany from the Soviet Union as a child . Gebauer grew up in Hennigsdorf and attended the Alexander S. Puschkin Gymnasium there. Due to her father's work as a foreign trade representative at LEW Hennigsdorf , the family moved to Beijing in 1983 and returned in 1988. She spent a year during eleventh grade in Oregon , USA .

She then studied theoretical physics and astrophysics at the Technical University of Berlin from 1999 to 2006 . She then worked at the university as a research assistant and in 2013 she received her PhD from the Technical University of Berlin with her work on the development of earth-like extrasolar planetary atmospheres . re. of course PhD .

From 2016 to 2021 she worked at the German Aerospace Center in Berlin-Adlershof . At the beginning of 2021, she moved to the BVB/Freien Wahler parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament as a research assistant . There she is a specialist for the " Corona " investigative committee .

Gebauer is married, has one daughter and lives in Kremmen .

politics

Gebauer joined the CDU in 2013 . She stood as a candidate in the local elections in 2014 and became a member of the Kremmen city ​​council . There she became chairwoman of the finance committee. When Gebauer was not nominated as a mayoral candidate by the local CDU, she left the party in December 2015.

After that, she initially wanted to join the SPD / Greens parliamentary group there , but then decided against it and joined the UWG/LGU parliamentary group because she wanted to remain non-party. In the city council meeting she became deputy chairwoman. After the local elections in 2019 , the SPD and UWG/LGU merged to form a parliamentary group and Gebauer was elected chair of the city council.

In 2021 she joined the Free Voters. In the 2021 federal election , she ran unsuccessfully as a direct candidate for the Free Voters in the Oberhavel-Havelland II constituency .

On February 3, 2022, the Free Voters nominated Gebauer as a candidate for the election of the Federal President on February 13, 2022 .
