The stone wall is a 950 m above sea level. A. high mountain on the western edge of the Hochschwab group . It rises at the confluence of the Salza and the Enns .
The stone wall forms a scenic spur that stripes east and west between the two rivers. The Mooslandl with the village of Dörfl extends at the southern foot, while Großreifling lies on the other bank of the Enns in the west . To the east is the Radstatthöhe ( 637 m above sea level ), via which you can get from Mooslandl on the B25 to Gams bei Hieflau and the Salzatal . The stone wall forms the westernmost branch of the Hochschwab group .
The mountain is located in the conservation area Ennstal and Eisenerz Alps and Nature Park Eisenwurzen , the northern flank already belongs to the nature reserve Wildalpener Salzatal whose boundary runs along the summit ridge.
On the north flank, the Karl-August-Steig , a partially exposed hiking and mountain bike path , runs along the Salza . The path goes through the zone of conglomerate rocks that characterize the entire gorge of the Lower Salza. On the western flank along the Enns, there is also a path from Mooslandl to the Salzabauer at the mouth of the Salzam. The hike from Großreifling over the Karl-August-Steig, the Radstatt, Dörfl and back down again is called the Gasteiger circular hiking trail , in honor of the Tyrolean hydraulic engineer Hanns Gasteiger, who built the Gasteiger rake here in 1570 .
