Großreifling is a village in the Gesäuse in Styria , and locality of the municipality of Landl in Liezen .
geography
Großreifling is located on a loop of the Enns on the left bank, near the confluence of the Salza , at the foot of the Reiflingberg ( 712 m above sea level ), in the northeast, and Lehenberg ( 871 m above sea level ), in the south, with the stone wall ( 950 m above sea level ) on the other side of the Enns in the east.
This is where the Ennstal Alps , the Ybbstal Alps and the Hochschwab Group meet, in the west the Sittlingerkogel ( 1110 m above sea level ) lies in front of the Haller Walls , in the south-west the Buchstein group ( Großer Buchstein 2224 m above sea level , Tamischbachturm 2035 m above sea level). A. ) the Gesäuse Mountains , in the southeast the Kalte-Mauer-Gruppe (Kaltmauer 1929 m above sea level , foothills of the Hochschwab), in the northeast the Gamsstein ( 1774 m above sea level ) the Ybbstal Pre-Alps .
The place is located in the conservation area Ennstal and Eisenerz Alps and Nature Park Eisenwurzen , the National Park Gesäuse begins just south above Kirchenlandl, the nature reserve Wildalpener Salzatal little the Salza upwards. For the Salza, one of the best white water sport rivers in Central Europe, Großreifling is the end point of the tours through the gorges of the lowest river section.
Großreifling is also known among geologists, here is the type locality (the model discovery site) for the Reifling formation , a layer system of the limestone Alps of the northern eastern Alps , as well as for the anisium (Latin for Enns), the geological age from 246–237 million Years, a time stage of the Triassic . The ammonite discovery site on the Rahnbauernkogel , which is part of the Gutenstein formation , also became famous .
Local division
The locality also includes the Ramsauhof, Kupfer and Scheiblinghof and the Wedelalm , in the Scheiblingbach valley on the Sittlingerkogel.

The place developed from around 1500 from an ironworks settlement.

Großreifling is located directly on the B115 Eisen Straße Steyr - Eisenerz - Traboch . Here in the village, the L705 Erbstraße (via Erb to St. Gallen , to the B 117 ), and at the Ennsbrücke north of the village, the L714 Salzastraße (at Palfau into the B25 ). Großreifling is also the station of the Rudolfsbahn , which runs directly between Ort and Enns, but trains no longer stop here. The two pairs of trains still in service here pass without a scheduled stop.
