The Stena Carisma (HSS 900) is a catamaran ferry of the Stena Line , which connected Frederikshavn and Gothenburg with a two-hour crossing from 1997 to 2013 .

In the mid-1990s Stena Line faced competition from SeaCat on the Frederikshavn - Gothenburg route . The addition of high-speed ferries to the conventional ferries made sense. Initially, the route was served by the Stena Lynx . Stena Line ordered two high-speed ferries of the type HSS 900 (High Speed ​​Service for 900 Passengers) for the route , which were built at the Westamarin shipyard . The second ferry, however, was scrapped again before completion because the shipyard was insolvent. The Stena Carisa was completed at West Bygg .

The Stena Carisma was laid down on September 27, 1995. The launch took place on June 29, 1996. On June 1, 1997 the ship was completed and then put into service.

For cost reasons, which was Stena Carisma withdrawn and on August 19, 2013. their route in Gothenburg launched .

Facility

The catamaran has four decks. The lower two serve as parking spaces for the cars. On the lower deck there is a parking space around the area for the cars, on which up to 10 trucks or buses can be transported. Above is the lounge deck for the passengers. The bridge is in the small upper deck.

The ferry has two ABB GT-35 gas turbines with a total output of 34 MW (46,200 hp). The turbines are used to generate electricity to power the water jet propulsion.
