Stephan Berend von Dewitz

Stephan Berend von Dewitz (* March 21, 1672 - March 8, 1728 ) was a Prussian district administrator . Until his death he was in charge of the Daber-Naugard-Dewitz circle in Western Pomerania .

He came from the noble Dewitz family , who owned extensive estates in Pomerania . These possessions made up a large part of the Daber-Naugard-Dewitz circle . His father Joachim Balthasar von Dewitz (* 1636, † 1699) was a Brandenburg-Prussian general, most recently in command of the Kolberg Fortress. His mother was born von Mörner .

Dewitz served in the Prussian Army ; in the body regiment on horseback , he rose to lieutenant colonel.

Later he became district administrator of the Daber-Naugard-Dewitz district . In the Allgemeine Teutschen Adels-Lexicon (1774) he was characterized as a "great lover of splendor and expense". He held the office of district administrator until his death, his successor in office was his relative Christian Heinrich von Dewitz .

Dewitz was the heir to Hoffelde , Wussow and Roggow. He was married to Louise Emilie († 1760), a daughter of Major General Johann Anton von Zieten . His son Carl Joseph von Dewitz (* 1718, † 1753) became Vice President of the Pomeranian government and diplomat.
