Stephan Fillitz (born September 30, 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian sculptor, light and installation artist and designer .

life and work

After completing general secondary school and after a stay in Rome, Stephan Fillitz trained as a goldsmith (1966–1973) with Sven Boltenstern in Vienna and Switzerland. In 1972, 1974 and 1976 he attended the Salzburg Summer Academy with Francesco Somaini and Ralph Brown. From 1973 to 1977 Fillitz studied sculpture with Fritz Wotruba at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna .

Since 1983 he has been teaching at the University of Applied Arts Vienna , from 1989 he was assistant to Georg Baselitz and Arnulf Rainer . From 2000 to 2015 he was associate professor for product design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna .

Fillitz received several awards and among other things he won the Urania competition in Vienna in 2002 , for which he created the sculpture “Universum”, which is located on the attic of the building.

Fillitz's works can be found in Austrian and international museums and private collections.

Fillitz lives and works in Vienna, Italy and Switzerland .
