Gertrude Stiehl

Gertrude Stiehl (born April 15, 1928 in Vienna ; † March 12, 2018 ) was an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). From 1973 to 1989 she was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

Life

Gertrude Stiehl was initially a teacher, most recently she was director of the Konstanziagasse elementary school in Vienna- Donaustadt from 1971 until retirement and received the professional title of high school councilor.

From July 1955 she was active in the SPÖ Vienna-Donaustadt. In 1969 she became a member and later chairwoman of the district women's committee. From 1972 to 1989 she was deputy chairwoman of the SPÖ Donaustadt. In 1973, at the beginning of the 11th electoral term, she entered the Vienna State Parliament and City Council . From November 1984 to December 1987 she was third president of the state parliament , from December 1987 to December 1989 she was second president. From 1981 to 1989 she also held the position of deputy chairwoman of the Vienna SPÖ women's committee. In December 1989 she left the state parliament, and Renate Winklbauer replaced her .

From 1984 to 1991 she acted as president of the Wiener Volksbildungswerk, of which she subsequently became honorary president.

Gertrude Stiehl died in March 2018 at the age of 89.
