Eveline Agnes Andrlik (born January 14, 1935 in Vienna ; † January 26, 2016 in Kirchdorf an der Krems ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

life and career

Eveline Andrlik was born on January 14, 1935 in Vienna, where she grew up in the area around the Freudenau horse racing track . Encouraged by her father, an employee of the Austrian Federal Railways , she was committed to social democracy at an early age . After completing her commercial training, Andrlik worked as an employee at various companies before she started working for the workers' pension insurance company in Vienna in 1959 . After she was a member of the district council of Leopoldstadt from 1970 to 1971 , she was elected to the Vienna City Council and State Parliament on December 9, 1971 , replacing Leopoldine Schlinger . She then belonged to the Vienna City Council and Parliament from the 10th to the 14th electoral term .

From May 4, 1984 to January 25, 1985, the longtime chairwoman of the District Women's Committee of the SPÖ-Leopoldstadt appeared as the fourth chairwoman of the Vienna City Council before she rose to third chairwoman on January 25, 1985 and held this office until December 9, 1987 . On that day she became the second chairwoman, worked in this position for a little over a year (until December 16, 1988) and subsequently took over the post of first chairwoman of the Vienna City Council. From December 15, 1989, when Gertrude Stiehl left the state parliament, Andrlik held her vacant post as 2nd state parliament president and resigned her position as first chairwoman of the Vienna municipal council. On March 1, 1991, she took over the office of 1st President of the State Parliament from her party colleague Fritz Hofmann . She held this position until she left the Vienna City Council and Parliament on December 9, 1991.

Especially in the 1970s and 1980s, as a member of the health committee, she was particularly committed to the further development of retirement homes and care facilities, as well as the expansion of the psychosocial service of the city of Vienna, of which she was deputy chairman for many years. Furthermore, she tried to modernize the city hospitals; including the new building of the Rudolfstiftung Hospital , which was ceremoniously reopened in 1975. Andrlik was also chairman of the community council nursing home commission, as well as the commission for the creation of a Viennese health and hospital target plan and was a member of the board of trustees of Viennese retirement homes for over three decades . For years she worked closely with the Vienna City Councilor for Health Alois Stacher .

Andrlik was honored several times in the course of her life. In 1981 she received, among other things, the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna ; In 1999 she was awarded the Professor-Dr.-Julius-Tandler-Medal of the City of Vienna in gold . Before that, in 1992 she also received the Great Silver Medal for Services to the State of Vienna . She was also the bearer of the Viktor Adler plaque .

A few days after her 81st birthday, Andrlik died on January 26, 2016 after a short, serious illness in Kirchdorf an der Krems , leaving behind her husband Josef, who, like her father, was an ÖBB employee, as well as her two sons Roman and Christian Familys. After the cremation, the farewell took place on February 10, 2016 in the fire hall Vienna-Simmering . Her urn was later buried in the family grave at the Kagran cemetery (group 3, row 8, number 9).

While her son Roman works for the City of Vienna - Wiener Wohnen , the second son Christian works in the field of occupational safety and security specialists; especially at Flughafen Wien AG .

Since September 9, 2017, the 571-apartment urban residential complex at Engerthstrasse 232-238 in Andrlik's home district has been named Eveline-Andrlik-Hof in her honor .
