Franz Koci (born December 26, 1899 in Stockerau , † July 18, 1966 in Kalkgruben ) was an Austrian politician .

Life

Franz Koci was originally a locksmith (machine worker) by profession. He enlisted in the military at the age of 17.

After the First World War he was involved in the trade union movement and in the social democratic party in Vienna-Favoriten . After February 1934 he joined the Revolutionary Socialists ; He was therefore arrested in 1935 and sentenced to three months in police custody and one year in prison. In 1937 he was also in custody for a month for political reasons. Most recently he was interned in Buchenwald concentration camp in the course of a wave of arrests by the National Socialists in 1939 and released again in 1940.

After the Second World War , Koci was a member of the Vienna City Council from 1945 to 1964 , in 1949 as Third President of the State Parliament , 1951–54 as City Councilor for Housing, Settlement and Allotment Gardening, 1954–64 as City Councilor for public institutions.

Franz Koci died in a car accident in Burgenland. He was buried in an honorary grave in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 14 C, number 28).
