Ernst Outolny

Ernst Outolny (born October 17, 1934 in Vienna ; † November 6, 2019 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

life and career

Ernst Outolny was born on October 17, 1934 in Vienna, where he attended school and, after completing compulsory school, started working for Wiener Stadtwerke-Elektrizitätswerke . Here he completed an apprenticeship in electrical engineering and passed the skilled worker examination for high voltage fitters in 1952 . He then worked for the municipal utilities until 1958, before devoting himself entirely to local politics. Before he was chairman of the youth shop stewards committee of Wiener Stadtwerke, he took over the office of secretary of the SPÖ district organization Rudolfsheim in 1958 and held this office until 1976. On July 11, 1968, after his party colleague Maximilian Eder left , he made it to Vienna Municipal council and state parliament , to which he then belonged from the 9th to the 15th electoral term .

Outolny, who was a member of the Socialist Youth in his earliest youth , took over the chairmanship of the municipal council towards the end of his political career (January 25, 1985 to March 1, 1991) before he was elected Second President of the Vienna State Parliament and this office from March 1, 1991 until he left the Vienna City Council and State Parliament on November 7, 1994. He officially resigned from the state parliament on October 31, 1994, but was only replaced a week later by Erika Stubenvoll as second state parliament president. Ernst Outolny was a long-time member of the Committee for Environment and Sport, as well as a long-time member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Council. Outolny received several awards and honors throughout his life; Of particular note is the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna , which was awarded to him on November 10, 1981 and presented on April 14, 1982.

As of May 2018, Outolny was living in the 15th district of Vienna Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus .
