Stephan Jenkins

Stephan Jenkins (born September 27, 1964 in Oakland ) is an American musician . He is best known as the singer and guitarist of the music group Third Eye Blind , but has also appeared as an actor and music producer .

Life

Jenkins grew up in Palo Alto . As a schoolboy he suffered from dyslexia . However, he later made his bachelor's degree in English literature and was the farewell speaker for his class at the University of California, Berkeley in 1987 .

In the early 1990s, Jenkins was part of a hip-hop duo called "Puck and Natty". Shortly after this broke up, he formed the band Third Eye Blind with guitarist George Earth, drummer Adrian Burley and bassist Jason Slater. After the band had appeared as the opening act for Oasis in 1996 , the big breakthrough followed a year later with the self-titled debut album. Jenkins also hit the headlines as a producer when the Bohemian Rhapsody cover version of The Braids, which he produced for the soundtrack for the comedy High School High , helped the hip-hop duo to sign a contract with a major label .

After some of his songs were used in soundtracks to various films, Jenkins accepted his first role in a Hollywood film in 2001. He played a minor role in the comedy film Rock Star with Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston . At the same time, he made headlines through a relationship with actress Charlize Theron that broke up in October 2001. He processed the separation in several songs, which can be found on the 2003 third third-eye-blind album Out of the Vein .

Jenkins was later dating the singer Vanessa Carlton . He wrote several songs for her and was involved in the production of her third album, Heroes and Thieves , alongside Rick Rubin , Channel 7 and Irv Gotti .
