Stephan Meyer (born June 18, 1981 in Zittau ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He was elected to the Saxon state parliament with the direct mandate in the constituency Löbau-Zittau 2 in the state elections in Saxony 2009 ; From 2009 to 2014 the black and yellow Tillich II cabinet ruled . Meyer was re-elected in the state elections on August 31, 2014 and September 1, 2019.

Life

Meyer grew up in Eckartsberg and finished high school in 1999 at Christian-Weise-Gymnasium in Zittau. From 1999 to 2001 he was trained as a reserve officer in the German Armed Forces for logistics and is currently major in the reserve.

After completing his apprenticeship, Meyer studied industrial engineering at the Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and economics at the Hagen Distance Learning University and switched to main studies at the Zittau International University Institute (IHI Zittau). As an industrial engineer, he finished his studies there in 2006 with a diploma thesis on the subject of “Comparison of energy efficiency in manufacturing for Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic”. Meyer completed a stay abroad in Helsinki in 2005 as a fellow of the European LEONARDO da Vinci Mobility program . He was a scholarship holder of the Free State of Saxony and obtained his doctorate in political science and economics (Dr. rer. Pol.) In 2011 with the thesis "Decision model for value-added chain-oriented emission reduction in transition countries"

In 2007 he qualified as a European EnergyManager at the IHK Bildungszentrum gGmbH. Until 2005 Meyer worked as an assistant at SEC Energie-Contracting in the area of ​​maintaining and developing cooperation with Polish partner companies. In November 2007, Stephan Meyer was a guest lecturer as part of a DAAD project at the German-Kazakh University in Almaty . As a research assistant, he worked for one year until May 2008 in the field of creating a logistics concept for the planned bioenergy agency in the Löbau-Zittau district.

Meyer worked as a student and research assistant on the e-learning project at universities at IHI Zittau. Until September 2008 Meyer was the project manager of the cross-border agency for biomass and renewable energies at the Steinbeis consulting center 3Ländereck Neisse for energy, raw material and cooperation management. Meyer joined the Junge Union in 1998 and was a member of the state board of the Junge Union Sachsen and Lower Silesia from 2005–2007 as an assessor and chairman of the Europe working group. In the state elections in Saxony in 2019 , he was again elected constituency member in the constituency of Görlitz 4 with 43.3 percent of the direct votes.
