Stephan Heinrich Nolte (born October 19, 1955 in Münster ) is a German pediatrician , psychotherapist , cultural scientist , specialist journalist and author .

Life

Nolte grew up in Warburg as the second child of the ENT doctor Elmar Nolte and his wife Hildegard, a daughter of the architect Heinrich Bartmann . After attending grammar schools in Warburg and St. Blasien , he studied medicine and empirical cultural studies at the Georg-August University of Göttingen , the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg and the University of Paris Descartes .

In 1980 he received his doctorate, first worked at the physiological institute with Albrecht Fleckenstein and then until 1990 at the children's clinic of the University Medical Center Freiburg , influenced by Wilhelm Künzer . He researched kidney function diagnostics and new ventilation strategies. In 1990 he became senior physician in charge of the children's clinic at the University of Marburg , specializing in general paediatrics , nephrology and neonatology . In 1992 he founded his own practice as a pediatrician in Marburg and completed a psychotherapeutic training. Since 1994, after the civil war in Rwanda, he has repeatedly participated in medical aid missions and received further training in tropical medicine. He is a lecturer at the Philipps University in Marburg and is extensively active in journalism and professional policy.

Nolte left the clinic because he could not and did not want to identify with the mechanistic-interventional view of man in medicine. His concept of an idiopathic medicine was published in 1993 as a counter-draft and implemented by him in practice. He tries to propagate this approach in many articles and reviews. In addition, he published numerous book contributions and articles in magazines such as the Pediatrician , Pediatric Practice , Deutsches Ärzteblatt , Hessisches Ärzteblatt , the monthly magazine Kinderheilkunde , Der Anesthesist , Pediatric Nephrology, etc. His source research on the history of medicine and homeopathy is significant in terms of cultural history. With the book “Maßvoll vaccfen” he took a critical look at the current vaccination practice in children and caused a lot of media coverage. In 2017 everything was half as bad, a guide on how to deal with teething problems in a relaxed manner. In 2018 he published “Hahnemann's Handbook for Mothers, 1796. Educational Guide between Pedagogy and Medicine in the Late 18th Century” in a commented edition, which puts the work in the context of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution.

Stephan Heinrich Nolte is a second wife and has five children.
