Stephen Gauci

Stephen Gauci (* 1966 in New York City ) is an American jazz - tenor saxophonist .

Live and act

Gauci worked as a musician in the field of straight ahead jazz since the 1980s, but turned to avant-garde jazz in the 1990s ; he worked u. a. with Michael Bisio , Avram Fefer and Nels Cline . In 2004 he recorded the album Long Night Waiting in a trio with Bisio and Jay Rosen for the avant-garde label Cadence Jazz Records . Gauci also works with a trio made up of bassist Terence Murren and drummer Jeremy Carlstedt .

In 2007 he recorded the album Substratum for CIMP with his trio of Jay Rosen and Michael Bisio ; the album The Basso Continuo was created with the two bassists ("double basses") Bisio and Ingebrigt Håker Flaten , as well as with the trumpeter Nate Wooley . In June 2009 he performed with Michael Bisio and his Stephen Gauci 4tet with Lou Grassi , Kenny Wessel and Ken Filiano at the Jazzfest Villach .
