Stephen H. Burum

Stephen Henry Burum (born November 25, 1939 in Dinuba , California ) is an American cinematographer .

Life

After the California native Stephen Henry Burum in the 1960s at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television graduate and for a time taught there as a lecturer, he worked for a time for the Walt Disney anthology television series before his military service in the United States Army completed. He spent his service time at the Army Pictorial Center , where he made educational films for the Army. He then returned to California where he worked as a cameraman for commercials, television shows, and low budget films. He had his first major commissions for the Second Unit of Francis Ford Coppola Apocalypse Nowand Carroll Ballard's The Black Stallion .

Burum was nominated three times for the ASC Award and won it for his camera work on the biography Jimmy Hoffa . For Jimmy Hoffa he was also nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Cinematography in 1993. In 2008 he received the ASC Lifetime Achievement Award for his life's work .
