Steve Palmer (born August 9, 1974 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player . Most recently he played for the Füchse Duisburg in the DEL in the position of the striker .

Career

Palmer played in his youth for Clarkson University until he moved to Europe for the 1996/97 season and continued his career at Wiener EV in the Austrian Ice Hockey League . With 50 scorer points in the first season, the center was lured away by the Frankfurt Lions in the following season . In his third season with the Lions, however, Palmer only made 22 appearances and temporarily moved to the Italian Serie A at AS Asiago for the 2000/01 season until he signed a contract with the Lions again after a year. Although the Canadian with German citizenship played 57 games for Frankfurt in the German Ice Hockey League in the 2001/02 season , he was unable to convince with 10 goals as a striker.

When he then moved to the EHC Freiburg in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2002/03 season and was able to convince with 81 points, Hans Zach brought him to the Kölner Haien in the meantime , but Palmer again only managed five goals in 58 games in the DEL and then returned to the EHC Freiburg. For the 2005/06 season , the left shooter moved to the Straubing Tigers , with whom he was second division champions in the same season. His contract for the following season in the DEL was not extended.

For this reason, Steve Palmer then switched to the Kassel Huskies , who had been relegated to the second division the year before. With the Huskies Palmer dominated the second division, but lost the play-off final in the first second division season and only reached the second division championship title in the following season. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season, Palmer was suspended from the Huskies due to differences with coach Stéphane Richer , whereupon he moved to league rivals Füchse Duisburg . After the Duisburg had to file for bankruptcy in the summer of 2009 , Palmer left the club.
