Stephan Volke
Stephan "Steve" Volke (* 1961 in Bergneustadt ) is a German bookseller , publishing director, director of the Christian children's aid organization Compassion, journalist and book author.
Live and act
Stephan Volke spent his childhood and youth in Bergneustadt- Wiedenest where his father worked as a householder, pastor and administrator of the Wiedenest Bible School . Reading the The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis made him want to be a bookseller. He began this apprenticeship at the ALPHA bookstore in Giessen after graduating from high school . As a music enthusiast, he read many music magazines and finally founded the music magazine "iXX", after having set up as a freelance journalist in 1985 and writing for the Brendow-Verlag magazine "Neues Leben". He worked as an editorial and publishing manager in the publishing group scm and was responsible for the publishing houses R. Brockhaus , Oncken and ERF-Verlag in Wuppertal. As press spokesman for the evangelism events ProChrist , JesusHouse and Christival , he pursues his missionary zeal. His motto is "Provoke, but not manipulate". In 2002 he resigned the management, founded the media agency "Steve Volke Communications" in Kamp-Lintfort in 2003 and worked as a freelance journalist and media consultant . In 2002 he founded the association "Gott.net eV" based in Dülmen together with the Protestant pastor Monika Deitenbeck-Goseberg and the Catholic Dean Johannes Broxtermann and has been a member of its board ever since. In 2003 the internet portal www.gott.net was founded together with journalist Dieter Kohl. The organization draws attention with large-format posters on highways and slogans such as “We have to talk to one another - God” or “I have time for you - God”. In 2004, the association was awarded silver in the "Culture" category of the German Poster Grand Prix of the German Outdoor Advertising Association. In 2006, Volke received a request from the Christian children's aid organization “Compassion International” to head the planned “Compassion Germany” branch. The thought, “In worship, hands go up. But where are the hands to the next? ”Moved him to take up the position as managing director and through his commitment to bring light and hope to children in need.
Volke is a speaker at the Christian Media Academy and at the "Community Holiday Festival SPRING". He is the author of over 30 books and was a ghostwriter for the Brazilian soccer stars Jorginho and Zé Roberto . As a publisher, he worked with authors such as Adrian Plass , Philip Yancey and Sandra Felton. He is married to Anke, has four daughters and lives in Marburg .
