Steve Wächter (born August 27, 1979 in Dresden ) is a German opera singer with the Altus voice .

Life

education

Wächter made his first artistic attempts during his school days. He was a member of a theater and a musical group. During this time he also received lessons in classical ballet.

From 1996 to 1999 Wächter took private singing lessons in tenor from Gerd Reichard. From 1997 he received piano lessons from Iris Geißler . In 1999 Wächter began studying singing with Hartmut Zabel at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden. Here he switched to the altus vocal subject . Several appearances and engagements as a soloist in the Altus vocal subject followed during his studies.

In 2003 Wächter completed a master class “Opera arias” with Kammersänger Andreas Schmidt and a master class “Lied interpretation” with Kammersänger Olaf Bär . In 2004 a master class "Interpretation in Baroque Singing" with Britta Schwarz followed . In January 2004 Wächter gave his diploma concert in Dresden with a final grade of 1. He then began further postgraduate studies in the interpretation of baroque music as well as teaching as a singing teacher at the Dresden keyboard school. Several engagements as well as radio recordings followed. In 2006 he had further singing lessons with Claudia Eder . Wächter passed the exam concert of the postgraduate course in February 2007 with distinction. In January 2009, Wächter finished his master class studies, also with Hartmut Zabel.

Steve Wächter has already received several awards for his skills, including a. 3rd prize at the 2006 Mozart Festival Competition in Würzburg . In addition, he received a special prize for outstanding stylistic achievements. As part of his work as a concert singer, he worked with Ludger Rémy , Michael Scholl , Maja Sequeira , Dietrich Lohff and Wolfgang Kupke, among others .

Wächter sang Orfeo in Christoph Willibald Gluck's opera Orfeo ed Euridice in Belgrade at the Serbian Music Festival. He took on the title role in Amadigi in Georg Friedrich Handel 's opera of the same name in Dresden in 2006 in a production by the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music . In 2006 he sang at the Chamber Opera Rheinsberg the Euristeo in opera Antigona by Josef Mysliveček . At the Nordharzer Städtebundtheater he was seen in the 2006/2007 season as Otto in Handel's Otto and Theophanu in Halberstadt and Quedlinburg . In the 2008/2009 season he took over the title role in Orlando from Georg Friedrich Händel. In early 2007 he appeared as Alexander the Great in the world premiere of the opera Lacrimae Alexandri magni by Tomáš Hanzlik at the Prague State Opera . He appeared at the Frankfurt Opera as Apollo in Benjamin Britten's opera Death in Venice . At the Bad Hersfeld Festival he appeared in Claudio Monteverdi's L'Orfeo . In the 2007/2008 season he sang the title role in Handel's Giulio Cesare at the Staatstheater Schwerin and the Stadttheater Passau . In 2008 he sang Narciso in Handel's Agrippina at the Saarbrücken State Theater . In 2009 he performed at the Leipzig Bach Festival . In May 2010 he sang in the opening concert of the 8th Bergedorfer Musiktage in the oratorio La Conversione di Sant'Agostino by Johann Adolf Hasse . In July 2010 he sang the comic role of the philosopher Gelasius in the baroque opera Richardus I or the unsuccessful change of bride of Handel / Telemann in a performance of the Ekhof Theater in Schloss Friedenstein in Gotha . Steve Wächter is a regular guest at the Biederitzer Musiksommer , including the performance of Georg Philipp Telemann's St. Matthew Passion 1730 in March 2011.
